Philips Hue Bulbs and Their Uses Outdoor

Anyone who’s gathered a collection of Philips hue bulbs might start thinking if they can be used outdoors?

Can Philips Hue bulbs be used outside? Yes! Of course, with a few precautions since indoor Hue bulbs tend to overheat even when they’re indoors. With this said, it might be a bit dangerous to leave them out during the summer. During the winter, life expectancy would not be as long when used indoors.

If you want to light up your pathways or front porches in your home, you are on the right page.

This article will talk about Philips Hue bulbs being used outdoors, what you have looked out for and how seasons affect the bulbs.

I will also talk about the best outdoor Philips Hue bulbs on the market and what’s the best choice to consider…

Caution! Using Philips Hue Bulbs Outdoor

One thing that you should always remember when exposing any light bulb and its circuit to water or other types of moisture may not be the best idea. This is why fixtures were created because it serves as protection to the bulbs that are placed outdoors.

As for the Philips Hue, when it is stated that the bulbs are designed for indoor use only, there would be adverse effects when it comes to different weather conditions.

With this said, it doesn’t mean that indoor Philips Hue bulbs will not work entirely in outdoor spaces. If you decide to use indoor Philips Hue bulbs, the bulbs will work, but it will have a negative effect on the bulb. If you plan to use the bulbs outdoors, there are some cautions that you need to take note of.

The Philips Hue bulbs usually become hot when used in indoor spaces and can easily reach 90 degrees. Now, imagine using them in outdoor space during the summer. When they are exposed to heat, the lifespan of the bulb will lessen. The regular LED bulbs’ lifespan is about 25,000 hours, which means you can use the bulb eight hours a day, seven days a week.

Hue bulbs should last about eight years, depending on how a person uses them. With all of these said, there shouldn’t be any issues when you use your Philips Hue bulbs outdoors. You can use them as porch lights, and you get to turn them on in the evening and run them throughout the night.

It is best to place the bulbs in some fixture type so that it would serve as protection for the bulbs during hail, snow, rain, and other elements that can damage the bulb itself.

Take note that the bridge that controls the lights when placed outside can be damaged during the winter. It can lead to smart lights being ‘normal’ and can no longer have the ‘smart’ features it once had.

Now, if you are really concerned about using your indoor Philips Hue bulbs outdoors, there are a lot of outdoor Philips Hue bulbs on the market. The following will talk about the different Philips Hue bulbs outdoors that you can choose from.
